Destination Wedding Photographer - Tracy Connery Photography

I think one of my favourite wedding months is September.  This year we not only had fantastic colours, but the weather was divine!

Oddly enough, I don’t often get the opportunity to shoot locals, so this was a treat.  A local couple enjoying a destination wedding… at home.  Laura and Ryan planned a lovely day at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, up on the fantastic wedding deck and at Mountainside Clubhouse- outside of the ski chalet, my favourite of the FHSR wedding venues.

I met Laura and Ryan this past winter when we’d planned to shoot their engagement as winter wonderland… this is what we got!  And, while things may not have gone as planned back in February, they could not have planned better for the last weekend of September.

In keeping with the perfect day, is Laura not absolute perfection?!?  Stunningly beautiful and just the most beautiful choice of dress!  So, so pretty!  Ryan was a surprise… I totally never would have called him for being an emotional dude.  He was overcome as his bride made her way down the aisle.

It was just so, so wonderful!

I’ve always wanted to photograph at St. Eugene Mission near Cranbrook, BC, so it was a total treat to be chosen to document Ashley and Ryan’s beautiful event this summer.

Honestly, a more beautiful September evening could not have been had!  Just perfection!

I don’t often think of Cranbrook in terms of ‘destination’ per se,  but when you go out to St. Eugene, it really is so incredibly pastoral and beautiful, you can see why couples would travel near and far to get married in this spectacular location.

I don’t want to make light of what’s involved in photographing a wedding, but between this lovely couple and such a stunning locale, St. Eugene Mission wedding photography makes for easy pickings!  With the building as a backdrop and the gorgeous tree-lined promenade, not to mention the old chapel; even on a hot, hot, sun-drenched day, this venue provides just such a perfect spot to get married – and a joy to photograph!

Such a wonderful time in any young family’s life… a new arrival!

I recently shot Bridget, Justin and family as they were expecting this little treasure and here she is!  Charming and beautiful little Reese.  Such a tiny, perfectly put together little gem she is!  She’s so lucky to be welcomed into the family by doting big bro’ Oakley and sister-in-crime, Kennedy!

Newborn & family photography offers up a few challenges (alert, awake babies – helloooo!!) and so many rewards (alert, awake babies!!!).  It also provides me with my new baby fix which pleases hubby… it keeps me from bringing home more puppies!

It’s such a precious and chaotic time in a family’s life, but as I say almost every time I post a fresh-baked baby post, I would go back to this time in a red hot second.  It’s a magical, and oh-so-fleeting, time!  Siggghhhhhh……

Casey Family Portraits Invermere Photography Family Portraits Tracy Connery Photography

Some Invermere family portrait photography fun with the Caseys!

The Casey family was so much fun!  Despite a quick reschedule for the weather… boy, did we get a fabulous morning!

It’s always such a pleasure to document a small piece of the time a family spends together.  It happens so seldom and takes some planning to make it happen… especially with little ones!  But it’s so very worth it!

These moments are so fleeting and with changes happening so quickly… toddlers turning into kids, bumps miraculously resulting in new babies, little kids turning into tweens – it’s so hard to freaking keep up.  We’re left with memories (and I’ve found those increasingly hard to hold on to – argh!) and photographs.

Note to self and anyone else out there listening:  TAKE PICTURES – and lots of them!!!  So these moments are reduced to a mere blur in our harried lives!

Ohhhhhhh… such a wonderful, wonderful, WONDERFUL time we had!!

I had been wanting to go to Cuba for some time now and the opportunity arose very last minute and we jumped!

Cuba is everything you’d think it would be: vibrant, colourful, a total throwback with the old cars, the architecture, cobblestone streets and a remarkable –refreshing! – lack of neon and billboard advertising.  It makes for great pictures – pretty easy pickings for the travel photography!

As much as I love a Caribbean beach, Havana was truly the highlight.  Between the endless bike taxi touring, the hand-made leather finds and just hanging out sipping cocktails, listening to salsa music and people watching, I would go back in a second!

There’s so much more to see and experience in this city that seems to have stopped in time.  Internet is sketchy and the food isn’t much to write home about, but the energy of the place makes even a total introverted home-body like myself want to roam all day and well into the night – even learn to salsa!
