Category Archives: thoughts and images This is a most special post for several reasons…. One, it’s a first of its kind for me; two, these are photographs of the mother of one of my oldest and dearest friends; and three… first shooting the images, and then going through them, for editing and putting together this post, got me thinking on…  Mary Elisa is my sister-in-law. She has had what can only be described as the most physically, mentally and spiritually gruelling experiences anyone could really only conceive of in nightmares. Her battle with breast cancer began the summer of 2008 and finally, with the last of her reconstruction surgeries, came to its rightful end this…  I’m pretty familiar with downtown DC- I used to work down there, for heavens sake- but since having kids and leaving the area our time spent in the Metro Area seems to rarely extend beyond the ‘burbs of Northern Virginia and Bethesda and then to the beach… ALWAYS the beach! A trip to DC these…  …. because you’re ALWAYS stopped in traffic! But maybe that’s because of losers like me trying to field a phone call, refer to my map for the next viable exit, find a radio station, take pictures and drive… all while slurping a vanilla soy latte- grrrrrrrrande!! 7:oo am 5:20pm My last traffic jam….  After kissing good-bye the dog and the kittens and doing one last scan of the little cottage-house, it was a mixed bag of sadness and relief as we buckled in and set off on our journey. But… it was nothing an all-you-can-eat dinner of pancakes, sausages, and home-made biscuits and gravy couldn’t make feel a… |
